Word for Word Media is pleased to announce Caroline Rule, their content creator for, was bestowed the fourth Albie Sachs Occupational Therapy Association of South Africa (OTASA)/Life Rehabilitation award on the 14 July at the three-day OTASA Congress held at Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre.

Caroline Rule, owner of Rolling Rehab – a disability driving consultancy service, is an occupational therapist. She has been integral in giving disabled persons the freedom to drive by assessing their remaining functionality and how best they can use it; she recommends driving adaptations that would enable them to be behind the steering wheel safely and independently, as well as how they’ll get their wheelchairs in and out of the car. She then refers them to the relevant companies that can build the adaptations and in an ongoing way she works with these companies to brainstorm even more effective solutions.

“I feel incredibly honoured to have received this award as there are many other occupational therapists doing amazing work so it is a huge honour to have been singled out and given this recognition. My achievements could not have been done alone. I have to thank Ari Seirlis from the Quadpara Association, Karen Joseph from Word for Word Media, Daniel Vivier from Shoprider and my husband Richard Rule, for the support that they have given me and the platforms that they have created which has enabled me to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities. This award just motivates me to keep listening to the needs out there and try and find ways where I can make a difference,” said Caroline Rule.

“We are thrilled with the news of Caroline winning the Albie Sachs award. It has been a long time coming. We are absolutely honoured to be working alongside a professional who is so passionate about what she does and who has made such an impact in the disabled community,” said Karen Joseph, owner of Word for Word Media.

Since 2008, Word for Word Media, in partnership with Caroline, has published seven issues of the Auto-mobility handbook. The new interactive website,, was launched in December 2015 and is enabling Caroline to take her work to a new level and to reach a greater number of people who are searching for information. The goal of the website is to provide guidance to persons with physical disabilities, who are looking for ways of becoming independent through driving or as a passenger.
